Standardized Patient Application
Dr. Angelo and Alberta Anaclerio Learning and Assessment Center

Standardized patients (SP) are healthy people who are trained to portray actual patient cases so realistically that even experienced physicians cannot detect them.  SPs learn the history, physical exam and affect of the patient.  Medical students, dental students and other health profession students interact with standardized patients just as they would with real patients to learn to take a medical history, perform a physical exam, counsel the patient and negotiate treatment plans. Standardized patients not only play the role of the patient but they may also evaluate the student’s performance using predetermined criteria.

Times and dates vary with course requirements.

SPs may be trained for more than one SP case allowing more work for those interested in additional hours.
