This past January, UF CELS participated in the country’s largest conference dedicated to simulation in healthcare. IMSH 2025 celebrated the 25th anniversary of the society, which focuses on bringing healthcare and simulation experts together to collaborate on the future and growth of the field.

UF CELS held 13 unique presentations, covering specific scenarios such as malignant hyperthermia, to introductory friendly topics such as resilience engineering. Dr. Maritza Plaza, Dr. Jean A. Hutton, Dr. Mary Patterson, and Jennifer Zimmerman focused on hot topics in simulation education, such as the integration of simulation in pediatric residency programs, obstetric telemedicine program development, utilizing in-situ simulations to improve emergency response on general internal medicine clinics, and constructing and overviewing simulation center funding models.
Luiz Bittencourt, Stacey Anderson, and Conner Holt also presented at the event. Their presentations covered airway security, the use of moulage to enhance realism, and a 15-minute “survival guide” hot topic session for simulation educators and specialists.

UF CELS is committed to providing healthcare providers with high-fidelity simulation training that reflects real-world emergency and rapid response scenarios. As part of this mission, presentations were given on evaluating high-fidelity, immersive in-situ active shooter simulation events for first responders utilizing the integrated EMS-LEO Rescue Task Force Model. Presentation was also given on training Mobile Stroke Unit teams for field treatment.

IMSH 2025 was a huge success, and our team looks forward to presenting and collaborating next year! To learn more about the IMSH click here.
